Ambulatory / Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)

Ambulatory/Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)

A major focus of our work in the coming two years will be to produce a robust SDEC strategy for our hospitals and wider system.

Leeds was one of the pioneers of ambulatory emergency care in the UK when we launched our Clinical Decision Units in 2000. At that time we ran national study days over the next 2-3 years and shared our CDU protocols with over a 100 Trusts and hospitals in the UK, Ireland…and even Iceland.

Now over 20 years later we are delighted to be part of developing this new initiative with community and in-hospital specialty colleagues to produce a digital SDEC strategy for LTH that we can ultimately share with the wider NHS.

Our ambitions are to support a strategic digital approach for SDEC that will optimize safety, efficiency and effectiveness of care for patients in the acute setting. It will also meet the objectives of the NHS Long Term Plan to assess & treat patients rapidly and get them back into the community in a timely fashion.
