CENTEC Global brings together clinicians, researchers, educators and technology partners from the Emergency Departments of Leeds Teaching Hospitals. Our aim is to give patients the best possible care in the first few hours of an emergency, when they need it most. We work in partnership with Leeds Hospitals Charity.
Our CAILTEC team is building AI and immersive technology for our EDs, with the aim of making them safer and more efficient. Projects include an AI scribe and decision support tool that gives clinicians more time with patients, ViRStiLe (a virtual ED where staff can practise high-stakes skills safely), AI-supported radiology and digital care pathways. Our Leeds Emergency Medicine Research Group runs NIHR studies that test these ideas, so that approaches that work reach patients in Leeds and beyond.
Through the cHALO programme and our ENLIGHTENme learning platform, we are building a global health network with partners across South East Asia and Palestine. An international faculty gives its time freely to train clinicians, develop leaders and strengthen emergency care in low-resource settings. We work on a not-for-profit basis, and every pound we generate goes back into education and innovation for emergency care.
Leeds Hospitals Charity’s support has helped turn ideas into working projects, including early AI development and our growing global partnerships. We are grateful to the Charity and to everyone who has supported us so far.
Every donation to CENTEC Global, however large or small, directly funds our ongoing work with the Charity: new technology for our EDs, research that changes practice, and training for emergency clinicians around the world. Thank you for your support.

Innovation in practice
Our work includes an AI scribe, AI support for fracture detection and a virtual reality training environment.

AI drafts the clinical note for the clinician to check. This reduces documentation time and gives clinicians more time with patients.

We are evaluating AI support for fracture detection in adult and paediatric emergency care. The aim is to reduce missed diagnoses.

A virtual environment for practising rare, high-risk emergency procedures, being developed in collaboration with Dynamic.
