Our projects

CAILTEC, our Centre for Augmented Intelligence Learning & Technological Integration in Emergency Care, has worked with industry partners since 2019 to bring AI, immersive technology and digital tools into the ED.

ViRsTiLE-ED

A virtual ED for HALO (High-Acuity, Low-Occurrence) procedures. It explores how clinicians apply knowledge and judgement in high-risk moments they may rarely meet in real life.

We’re now building a proof of concept to test how VR can support our blended-learning programmes.

Fracture detection

Missed fractures are among the commonest missed diagnoses in the ED. We’re evaluating AI support in adult and paediatric EDs from September 2026.

Adults and children · radiologist-verified

Resident doctors and ACPs lead the QI projects behind every programme. This builds digital innovation skills among the next generation of clinicians.
